Newton Free Library Service Updates
As Coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns continue to evolve, Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker has extended his March 23rd “Stay at Home” Executive Order requiring all non-essential businesses to close. At this time, the Executive Order has extended until May 4, 2020.  Newton Free Library is currently closed to the public.

While the building is closed for visitors, Newton Free Library is working extra hard to make many of our services available for you to enjoy from the comfort and safety of your own home!

  • Have a reference question or need assistance with your library account? We are still available by phone (617-796-1360) and email ( to help answer your questions. Just send us an email or leave us a message!

  • Please keep your borrowed items at home. All due dates have been extended to June 30th. This is to give you plenty of flexibility to decide when you are ready and able venture back to the library.
  • Fines are waived during this closure. If your account registers fines during this time we will waive them for you when the library re-opens.
