Nan Rumpf, June 2018, Gallery

Visions of Iceland by Nan Rumpf, Reception, Wednesday, June 6, 7:00 pm, on view June 2-28, Gallery: Nan Rumpf feels that the fluid nature of watercolor is the perfect medium for portraying the wild spirit of Iceland. She has been painting her impressions of that starkly beautiful land since visiting southern and western Iceland in September 2016.

Nan Rumpf has exhibited at museums in Framingham, Concord and AWS’s International  (New York City), among others. She has taught workshops for Framingham State and Framingham teachers. She currently teaches at Danforth Art and her studio in Wellesley. She’s a Signature Member of NEWS.


Laura Scheurell, June 2018, Main Hall

Joint Opening Reception for Farm Fresh by Laura Scheuerell, Wednesday, June 6, 7:00 pm, on view June 2-28, Main Hall: Laura Scheuerell has worked in the food industry prepping, cooking and serving throughout her life, and has come to understand that presentation and creative design are key. The theme for these works in acrylic is Farm Fresh -- bright, vibrant paintings of vegetables and fruits for the viewer to enjoy.

Laura Scheuerell is a painter, illustrator, educator and writer. She taught art from 1984 - 2015.


Displays June 2018

Teen Gallery: Works from Newton's middle schools will be on view in the new Teen Gallery in the first floor Rear Arc throughout the summer.  With representation from Bigelow, Brown, F.A Day and Oak Hill Middle Schools, the works showcase the breadth of assignments and unique talents of our students. The library wishes to extend its gratitude to Eric Blomster of Abraxis Framing Co. in Newton, who generously provided the frames cost-free.

Atrium Case 2: Newton Residents! Three Main Hall Cases: Learn about the the culture, people and handcraft traditions of Uzbekistan, a country that has been independent from the USSR since 1991. Zilola Ashurova of Great Silk Road Craft will show some of her charming handcrafted creations. Visit:
